Paris in the Spring | Travel Photography

Seine River in Paris France In May, I had the chance to take my dream trip to France where I spent an entire week exploring Paris and then spent a few days exploring the countryside in the beautiful Cote d’Or region of Burgundy (photos from my time in Burgundy will coming up soon). Walking the entire city, my Mom and I got to see so many beautiful places and taste so much delicious food.  My obsession with all things French started as a very young girl (elementary school) and all I have ever wanted to do since then is to be in Paris. The city certainly did not disappoint.

Paris is the stuff of daydreams really and I love reliving that dream as I look through the photos from the trip.

I highly recommend getting up really early at least one morning and enjoying the quiet streets and parks of the city.  Plus, the beautiful morning light makes everything look even more picturesque. Jardin Tuileries in Paris in early morningPont des Arts and love-locks bridge in Paris St. Germain des Pres in ParisHotel Saint Vincent in Saint-Germain des Pres in ParisFrance-Paris-May-Spring-travel-besa-photography_0083France-Paris-May-Spring-travel-besa-photography_0078

A last-minute decision to visit the Galeries Lafayette allowed me to have one of my favorite experiences from the whole trip.  Unbeknownst to me, the Henri Cartier-Bresson exposition was on exhibit there.  It was amazing and I highly recommend it!

Taverne Henry IV was a wonderful restaurant on Ile Saint-Louis by Pont Neuf.  And the proprietor was one of the kindest people we met on our whole trip.

We totally did the touristy thing and took a cruise of the Seine River at night.  It was wonderful and allowed us to see the city in a whole different way.Paris at nightView along the Seine River in ParisFrance-Paris-May-Spring-travel-besa-photography_0077Le Pre Verre restaurant in ParisFrance-Paris-May-Spring-travel-besa-photography_0086Wine shop in ParisSaint Pères Fleurs on Rue des Saint-Peres in ParisLa maison de l'Orchidée on Isle St. Louis in Paris, Fuji 400H filmView of Paris from top of Galeries Lafayette. Make sure to check back for Part II where I share photos from our time in the Bourgogne.

***Photos from my time in Paris are mainly digital photos with a handful of them being taken on an iPhone. Additionally, some of the photos were taken using Fuji 400H film or Kodak Portra 400 film with a Canon EOS-3 camera.

Wedding Portraits: Bluemont Vineyard – Bluemont, Virginia

Wedding-Bluemont-Vineyard-Wedding_0012I am so excited to share these photos.  I have been beyond fortunate to get to assist an awesome local film photographer, Julie Massie, at a couple of her weddings.  It is so cool to get to watch her work.  She and her second-shooter, her husband Chris, have such a great harmony while they work.  Julie is so good under pressure.  She always remains calm and collected, which in turn helps to keep the bride, groom and the rest of the bridal party calm too, which then allows for the type of beautiful photographs that she produces. Her images are so bright and romantic and emotive.  I learn from her just by watching her and I feel pretty darn privileged to get to do that.  During the last wedding that I worked with her, I had the opportunity to take some photos at the same time that she was doing portraits (thank you, Julie!!).  Most of the photos that I am sharing here were taken with film and a few are digital images.  Can you tell which ones are which??  :)

I really can’t say enough about Julie.  Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is so kind, caring and generous.  You must do yourself the favor and check out her work (website and blog) and you will see why. Total inspiration.

And this last photo comes from a moment after the wedding.  When I was leaving Bluemont Vineyard, there was this tiny little bridge that I crossed.  As I was crossing it, the sun was just at the perfect point to give me a total Pride & Prejudice moment…so I had to document it of course.  :)  Wedding-Bluemont-Vineyard-Wedding_0010
